COVID 19: Are You Living Your Dreams or Your Fears?

This COVID-19 lock-down has been tough.  But I think it’s especially challenging for those of you who already are struggling with OCD.  Just like people who survived the great depression still stash money, you might fear that you may incessantly wash your hands, surfaces etc...forever.  And the truth is, the media’s atomic bomb of fear around COVID is causing more of you to live your fears than your dreams.

Almost every morning I see the smudge of the fear of Corona Virus all over my phone:

  • Our meat supply is running low

  • Scientist can’t figure out how COVID spreads in crowds

  • 6 new symptoms of the Corona Virus

  • Think Corona Virus is bad, you won’t believe what’s coming next!

It’s like every fearful person in the world is being forced to read and re-read the side effects of a drug that they have no choice but to take, or die. Frankly, I never imagined what fear of the unknown could do to a species.  Like mice in a maze of snakes, we scramble to get away from each other.

I’m not saying don’t wear the masks or stay 6 feet apart.  Wear em’ and scatter from each other.  Instead, what I’m saying is that you should only read the side effect label when necessary.  Not in your spare time like you would watch a comedy.  Who can live like that?  I can’t!

I don’t know about you, but I choose to live!  My dreams are still the same...help as many people as possible and create an environment around me that I don’t want to escape from!  I’ll be better because of this...not worse.  I hope the same for you.

Below are a few long-term benefits of going through such a crisis:

  • Gratefulness for what we do have and what we’re able to do

  • Unity among humankind

  • It’s caused us to reflect...a bunch!

  • Preparedness

  • Getting a break from college

  • Forced to chill out

  • More sleep...Amen!

While respecting and honoring those we’ve lost and their families, I’d love to hear the positives for you during this pandemic...
